Cedarcrest graduates are truly remarkable. These well-formed young people are shining examples of humanity and how the partnership between the family and Cedarcrest works to form happy, healthy, strong leaders.

Introducing Ashley Borland

Tell us about your plans for high school.

Right now I have narrowed my high school options down to three: Totino-Grace, Providence Academy and St. Paul Conservatory for the Performing Arts. I am looking forward to participating in basketball, soccer, theater, singing of some kind, and most definitely honors classes. Although it may be difficult, I am looking forward to living my faith. I get to take everything I’ve learned over ten years and put it to use. Hopefully, I can bring more people to Christ by doing this. Overall, high school should be an amazing experience for me.

How has Cedarcrest Academy helped to form you.

Academically, Cedarcrest has pushed me to reach my full potential, and I have benefitted greatly from this. Through the religion classes, I have learned so much more than I could have anywhere else. I definitely feel prepared for the world and its questions. I am also happy that I got the opportunities to serve in the community through field trips. I now know how rewarding it feels to help others. Lastly, I feel Cedarcrest has helped me form as a person. For example, one of my teachers gave us a talk on stereotypes. She told us to recognize them and to not to fall into them. From Cedarcrest and this discussion, I have learned to be myself and to be confident in who I am. I am very sad I have to leave, but I will take everything I have learned with me. Thanks Cedarcrest.

What are some of the memories of Cedarcrest that you will bring with you?

Some people may say a small class is a con, but it has made school so fun. I have known some people throughout my whole education. If you asked anyone what a classmate participates in outside of class, they would answer in detail. Our class has formed a bond throughout our years together. As a class, we have had so many memories I can’t think of just one. Every part of being at school was enjoyable, whether I was in class, at lunch/recess, or just being with my friends. So, in conclusion, my favorite memory of Cedarcrest would have to be being part of a tight knit family of friends who have fun in all situations.

Who are your heroes?

My heroes are my parents. Yes, I know this is one of the most used clichés every, but it is definitely true. My parents have given me every opportunity and made me the person I am. To them I am eternally grateful for my education, housing, good, and most especially their guidance throughout my life.

Do you have any advice for the younger students?

Do all long-term assignments before they are due. That way you won’t feel stressed the night before. You should also do what your teachers ask. They know what they are doing, so trust them. Lastly, don’t be followers. Stand up for what is right and be confident in who you are.
